Dean Babin Furniture
Dean Babin is a critically acclaimed furniture designer and maker based in the Hudson Valley. His path began in furniture restoration, which led to formal training at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine, followed by years working under fine furniture makers in Maine and New York before opening his own workshop. His work has since been recognized by institutions including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Wharton Esherick Museum, and the Frick Collection. Dean’s work is rooted in traditional joinery, with each piece built around structure, proportion, and longevity. His furniture is quietly refined, designed to feel natural in a space and to last over time. His work has been widely recognized, including the 2021 Wharton Esherick Prize for Excellence in Wood, the ISFD Pinnacle Award, and the Innovation + Design Award for his Emmet Lamp. He has also been featured in publications such as Architectural Digest and Fine Woodworking. In addition to his studio practice, Dean teaches woodworking and continues to restore heirloom furniture, maintaining a direct connection to the history of the craft.
