Brooklyn, NY
Mark Patrick Harrington is a Brooklyn-based artist working in stoneware vessels and sculpture with a practice that also spans painting and drawing. Each piece is one of a kind. Mark came to clay as a painter. He was looking for a creative reset. What he found was a medium where touch was as alive as sight, where the material could push back, surprise him, and take the work somewhere he hadn’t planned. His references run wide and restless: public infrastructure and Attic amphoras, 1970s sci-fi and fragments of overheard conversation. He doesn’t work from a plan. He works through discovery, letting the material guide the outcome. The result is work that feels fluid, compelling, and in his own words, “chronologically blurry,” existing outside any single time or reference point.
